Added 'Before My Hunt' by Sylveuzs!

New page

== Before My Hunt | Sylveuzs ==
----I paced the sandstone walkways. Back and forth, back and forth. How many times have I done this now? I can’t recall a day where I wasn’t retracing the same steps I had taken for Ion knows how long. The sand and dust under my feet flowed out with each step in familiar patterns that I had seen thousands of times over.

It had started to finally get stale. More so than the air and dust that flowed throughout the halls of this underground city. These old bones had at last gotten to a state where I could exit the Kiraak, and yet there was nothing worthwhile to do outside. Nothing besides the same few scuffles that resulted in pointless deaths.

The pointless deaths did weigh on my mind, though. I wish I could have stopped them, I really do. My condition stopped me from fighting against those damned spiders that killed many of us. ''Too'' many of us. The skirmishes out towards the east against the Mekhanites weren’t as bad with the Serpents on our side, but people still ''died.''

It gets to a point. I have done nothing but walk the same paths in the depths of the Kiraak and ponder to myself while my brothers in arms drop dead every day. I have wished for so long that my name was something that my fellow Nälkäns could find safely and solace in, and yet I sit here doing nothing. I find no worth in those occasional small battles, but perhaps…

And that’s when it was announced. Those currently in the Kiraak were all gathered together in the main hall to be given a task. Something that was finally of interest after all this time. Our goal was to collect biomass for Vasa Koi, a hundred bodies to feed the rotting Kiraak to the south. Maybe, just maybe, it was finally time to pick the hunt back up…

I went back to my quarters and dusted off my armor before finally putting it on for the first time in what felt like ages. Its weight washed over me like a wonderful warmth, and it still fit perfectly. I picked up the rest of my things; a pristine vasanorok that hadn’t seen service in as long as I have, my trusty corax, and my lükütaka. It was finally time to prove to myself that I was worthy of protecting my brethren, that my name was one to find true comfort in.

They will all know my name. Friend or foe.
