From Echoes of the Flesh

//: Reclamation of the Spurned Kiraak

Iquilos Vera Sievers | 7.6.20??

At the crack of dawn today, Grand Karcist Akisa ordered an expedition team out of the Kiraak to reclaim as much of the flesh as they possibly could, to add to the new Kiraak, and possibly to recuperate losses made during the FBPS raid last week, and research for the Vātula to strengthen our home against invaders, and possibly find out what sort of curse was brought on by the Fae. The expeditionary team was led by the Grand Karcist, as well as a Shard of Lovataar and Saiza the Wraith. Many members of the Black Lodge were deployed to protect the dig team in their efforts, including many Halkosts and Vultures. When the expeditionary arrived at the site, a fireteam sent by the Order of the Horde was already there. The Black Lodge engaged swiftly, and eliminated the threat.

After the area was confirmed secure by the Black Lodge, the dig team, supported by the Vātula, quickly began excavating what they could from the dead Kiraak, beginning at the perimeter of the area. A rock slipped free here, and killed a Nälkän below instantly. The body was recovered and sent back to the Kiraak for biomass processing. What little flesh was able to be successfully excavated was sent back as well. Inspection of the grounds continued. The teeth of an orifice were spotted and seemed to be in excellent shape, perfect for possible armor and weapon modifications. The order was given to extract them from the orifice. However, the orifice awoke in anger, tentacles thrashing about everywhere. Some Nälkäns were grabbed and crushed under their grip, or thrown in. The rest of the team was disoriented from the event, leaving many dazed and confused as the ground went dormant again.

Once everyone was recovered from the incident, members spotted a particularly decayed spot of flesh in the Kiraak. As there was nothing to lose, they began excavating. Unfortunately, it seems that it was simply highly diseased flesh that turned to dusk on contact. However, one member of the Vātula saw a promising chunk of flesh from the biomass, which was promptly extracted and sent to Kiraak Neriviaas. It was properly cleaned and checked for any sort of curses or other such thaumaturgical anomalies, but there was none. It was successfully subsumed into the Kiraak with little issue. During this, a small platoon of members of the SPC (“Shark Punching Center”) had arrived and were simply observing the Nälkäns’ excavation attempts. Members of the Black Lodge approached them. Pleasantries were exchanged, until one Pugilist pulled out a stick of TNT and ignited it, killing everyone in the vicinity. The bodies were recovered and sent for processing.

In all, this expedition was neither a large gain in spoils, nor was it a loss in any way. In fact, it was quite possibly the most neutral it could’ve been. There is a possibility that another expedition might be sent out in the future to see if there could be any more usable flesh that the first one missed in their search.
