Solomonari:Articles/Saints Of The Brine Pool

From Echoes of the Flesh

//: Saints Of The Brine Pool

Dice | 2/5/2026

Overview: The Saints of The Brine Pool are a large Proto-Sarkite Sect that roam between the Philippine Sea, North and South Pacific Oceans. They are unique in their documentation to other Sects due to the supposed ‘rarity’ of a sect like this. According to the “Flightless Traveler”, they are the only aquatic-adjacent sect made known to herself and the Cascading Garden. This could be due to her role as a “Caretaker”, which would imply that she had developed this sect as one of her own Gardens. Although the behavior they exude shows that she did not have much influence over their discipline or manners.

History: The Saints are a recent addition to GOIs related to the “Flightless Traveler” and a recent addition to the Sarkic Cults as a whole, so not much is known about them. What is known is that they were established sometime in the last three decades; their first known sighting was a close-up shot taken south of the Bering Sea, which can be seen below.

This image may not show anything at a glance, but further examination has provided details about how the Saints operate. The base of operations, or Kiraaks, that tend to be developed to host a group of Nälkä can be found hidden in the shadow of a ghost ship; with that knowledge we spotted more of these aquatic variants attached to ghost ships that were 500 miles away from one another, leading to the assumption that this was a fleet of 8 ships of varying design, style and age. Though no pictures could be obtained besides the first as our operators were shot down shortly after giving us this information.

The Saints Of The Brine Pool are extremely territorial to outsiders, neutral to those who pass the ghost ships by accident and cautious but peaceful to those who have sought them out. Despite that, researchers have yet to take the diplomatic approach, preferring to watch from the skies or satellites. If they had explored the roots of the sect, they would have found that the first and second generation of Nälkän’s came from the Sama-Bajau people,  swept into the Nälka after experiencing a terrible monsoon that had obliterated one of their settlements. They were given a chance to improve upon their abilities and the wisest of them accepted the faith. Those that refused were shown a path of redemption in another form. The ‘Malalim’ Kiraaks or Deep Kiraaks.

These Deep Kiraaks were developed recently as a part of a project to expand into the sea. They were given a multitude of modifications to enable long-term habitation and quick integration of a host ship's appearance into the main frame of their body. Among these abilities was the ability to swim using flippers or pulse-propulsion, given direction by “Manlalakby” or Travelers, which are Zend equivalents of the Saints. In addition to their mobility, they can also reshape themselves slightly to follow the shadows of their host ship without destroying their interior or its inhabitants, allowing themselves a form of camouflage.

Outside the Deep Kiraaks modifications, members of the Saints also obtain improvements based around aquatic exploration, being able to explore the depths of the ocean on their own and navigate with ease. But for ceremonies in the abyssal depths, they use specially modified or artificially produced aquatic beasts to travel. This is especially true for the induction of new members, in which they are carefully selected and then taken into the depths, to enter “Bathala”, a ceremonial Kiraak specially adapted to the cold and isolating depths of the ocean. He was grown around several Brine Pools, which take the place of the pit for regular Kiraaks.

Despite this sect being identified as a Proto-Sarkite group, it is advanced in the field of Marine Bio-Mechanics and Bio-Engineering, as one can see with the development of the Malalim Kiraaks. However, they have produced more than just new homes. They have developed weapons and beasts, one such beast being a modification of a Bobbitworm, called the “Endworm”. It was a multi-purpose beast that could be used to provide a direct connection from Deep Kiraak to Deep Kiraak or to dig through soft ground to provide amphibious transportation.

Previously on this document, before receiving an unknown packet of information, this sect was deemed somewhat harmless if left to its own devices. However, those thoughts have changed. If this sect is developing tools for expansion, the chances of finding ‘Gardens’ will decrease to a percentage dramatically lower than before. New reports have come in to support this line of thought; increased sightings of unknown beasts and raids made by the Saints show an increased demand in Biomass as affected areas, especially affected population centers leave little to no trace of body parts or organic traces.
