Every saved edit makes a revision. The history lets you see who changed a page, compare versions, and recover ordinary mistakes without guessing what was there before.
Inspect a change
- Open View history in the page tools.
- Read the edit summaries and timestamps. Open a timestamp to view that revision.
- Use the comparison selectors, Compare selected revisions, or a diff link to see what changed.
An old revision is a snapshot, not the current article. A Permanent link points to that particular revision; use one when a discussion or credit needs a stable reference. History attribution does not establish editorial approval or canon.
Undo a mistaken edit
- Find the relevant edit in history and open its diff.
- Choose undo if available. The editor proposes a new revision reversing that change.
- Review the whole diff and preview. Keep useful changes other editors made in the meantime.
- Explain the correction in the summary and publish.
Undo can fail when later edits overlap. In that case, open the current page, correct the affected passage manually and explain what you restored. Do not publish an entire old revision over newer work just to fix one line. If unsure, discuss it first.
Toolbar Undo / Ctrl+Z reverses your current unsaved edits; history Undo reverses a previously saved change. They are different tools. Rollback is a staff tool and should not replace a careful editorial correction.
Watch a page
Use the watch/star action while signed in, then open your watchlist. Notification and watchlist preferences are at Special:Preferences. Recent changes is useful for broader review.
Personal information or private content
Removing visible text does not remove older revisions, uploaded copies or activity notifications. If private material was published by mistake, contact a wiki administrator privately through Discord. Do not repeat the material in an edit summary or public talk message. Ordinary undo and page moves are not a privacy cleanup.
