Status meanings
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Canon | Established house continuity; this does not claim a universal SCP canon. |
| Fanon | Community interpretation outside established house canon. This is not a synonym for Unapproved. |
| Approved | Accepted through editorial review; does not by itself establish canon. |
| Unapproved | Explicitly not approved. Do not use merely because no review is recorded. |
| Draft | Work in progress. |
| Archived | Retained for reference, no longer actively maintained. |
| Deprecated | Outdated or superseded; supply replacement=Page title where possible.
|
| Unassessed | No decision recorded. This is the default for existing documents awaiting review. |
Editorial status and continuity
The canon=Canon or canon=Fanon parameter may accompany Draft, Approved, Unapproved, Archived, Deprecated or Unassessed. Leave it blank when unknown. A standalone Canon/Fanon status is supported when only continuity is known. Conflicting continuity values are flagged rather than adding contradictory categories.
An editor should record the reason, reviewer and evidence on the talk page before assigning Canon or Approved. The template records a decision; it does not grant approval or override access levels. Do not infer canon from Solomonari/CotRH membership or the location of a story. The existing NON-Canon category remains a broader legacy designation; Fanon has its own category.
Parameters and categories
status= (or the first positional parameter), optional canon=, note=, replacement=, and nocat=yes for examples. Values ignore case and surrounding whitespace. Blank status defaults to Unassessed. Unknown values produce a correction note and a maintenance category, never an approval.
Only Main, Solomonari and CotRH pages are categorised. Documentation and user sandboxes are excluded automatically. For demonstrations on a content page, always use nocat=yes. The Canon status uses the existing Category:(SC) Canon. Other states have their own document categories under Category:Document statuses.
